Day 13 Saturday, July 14, 2018
We fled LA and headed to Vegas. There's a game tonight, The Las Vegas 51's are hosting the Albuquerque Isotopes. Vegas is the Pacific Coast League affiliate of the Mets (Triple A). The Isotopes belong to the Rockies. Why, you ask, are they called the 51's? They are named after Area 51, the spooky military outpost near Las Vegas.
This is what we saw along the way:
All 270 miles of it.
We were going to see the game at 7:00 and hit a casino on the way out of town the next morning.. But the 51's got washed out in the 6th inning. They got hit by a real gully-washer. It was official, however, as the 51's won 2-1.So we went to The Cannery in North Vegas near our hotel:
I lost. Randy crushed it again.
Here are some photos from the ballpark:

Third base stands. Not many people tonight. Because it was 101 degrees at game time.
Scoreboard.
I hope this is not too dark. This is what the infield looked like when they thought about resuming. play.
Chilling on the right field berm before the deluge.
They even had a bat dog instead of a bat boy:

Random observation from Randy: They have weird trees in California. They got those old gnarly ones; they got ones all covered in fuzz. I don't like it one bit.
Tomorrow: The old strip, then to Winslow.
