 The Baseball Trip 2024

 Day 4 - Friday June 7

You might think that we are breaking rule #2 by stopping at a Waffle House for breakfast, but not so. There is a provision in the bylaws that allows for this deviation in the event that there are no decent breakfast diners in the area.

Random Observation from Randy: "This morning we dine at Maison du Waffle."

Today we are following the river roads along the Ohio into West Virginia. Our destination is an Independent League game between the Charleston Dirty Birds and the Lancaster Stormers. Independent League teams are not affiliated with any major league teams. I'm thinking they just can't give up the game they love.

Some pictures from GoMart Park:

Left field.

Right field

I kid you not, it was Dairy Night at the Ballpark.

Does this name ring a bell? It's Shawon Dunston, Jr. on 2nd base!

Right field stands.

Home plate area.

Me with the Dirty Birds' mascot, cleverly named Dirty Bird.

Stopped in at Lee's Bar before the game and found Miss Liberty. However, we had to leave before the drag show.
