 The Baseball Trip 2024

 Day 1 - Tuesday, June 4

There are only two rules on the Baseball Trip: No interstate highways and no chain restaurants.

Also, we - and by we I mean me and navigator extraordinaire Randy- like to count things along the way, mostly signs of the apocalypse like women on rider mowers, personal injury lawyer billboards, or Walmarts. This trip we are counting over-sized objects and Confederate flags.

Well, we broke rule #1. Right away. We decided to bust it down 65 to south of Indianapolis so we could see the ponies at Horseshoe Indianapolis in Shelbyville. We were punished for our transgression. It took about two hours to get through Indianapolis due to accidents and construction. So we doubled back into Indi to see the AAA ballgame between the Indianapolis Indians and the Columbus Clippers. The Indians are the triple A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, formerly Indians. You'd think the minor league team would have gotten the memo.

The Indians gave up 4 runs in the first inning on 5 hits, a walk, and a hit batsman. Not a good start. It was 8-0 by the third inning. Indianapolis tried to claw back, but eventually lost 11-6.
